Country Quizzes on Quizebra

A country quiz is a one-off test about a single country. It is not one of the daily games: there is no timer, no leaderboard and no daily reset, so you can play it whenever you like and it is the same quiz every time.

How Does a Country Quiz Work?

Ten rounds, alternating between four-option questions and puzzles, and the puzzles are not all the same kind. Two are quick runs of five where you decide whether a city, or a well known person, belongs to the country. Two are ordering rounds: seven countries are already in the right order, by population in one round and by area in the other, and you place the country among them. One is a color round, where a color on the country's flag has been swapped and you drag a slider until it looks right.

Nothing is revealed between rounds. The result screen is the first time you find out how any round went, and it shows your score, a verdict, and what each of the ten rounds was worth.

How Is a Country Quiz Scored?

A hundred points. Each of the five questions is worth seven, so the questions together carry thirty-five. The two runs of five are worth two points a tap, ten each. The two ordering rounds and the flag color round are worth fifteen each.

The ordering rounds give partial credit. Placing the country in exactly the right slot scores all fifteen, the slot furthest away scores nothing, and everything in between is spread evenly, so being one place out still counts for most of it. The color round works the same way: the closer your hue is to the real one, the more of the fifteen you keep.

Because of that partial credit, a player tapping at random still averages around forty points. The verdict bands on each quiz are set above that, so guessing never earns a verdict that reads as praise.

Where Do the Questions and Data Come From?

Every question's correct answer was checked against a published source before it shipped. The wrong options were checked too, for the opposite reason: an option that turns out to be true would give the question two defensible answers rather than one.

The population and area figures behind the ordering rounds come from the same dataset the rest of the geography games use, so a country's rank in a country quiz matches its rank in Order the Country and Match the Country. The flag art is the same shared set the flag games draw on, which is also what the color round recolors.

What Else Is on Quizebra?

Quizebra has six daily geography games, including Name the Flag, Guess the Country and Find the Color, whose slider the country quizzes borrow. There are six football games built the same way.

Everything is free, nothing needs an account, and the daily games reset at midnight London time.
