More about ORDER THE PLAYER

Order the Player: Eight Players, One Stat

Order the Player is a free daily football ranking game on Quizebra in which you sort eight shuffled footballers by one statistic, most at the top. The statistic changes daily and is one of nineteen, from Premier League goals to career-high market value. You are scored on how close your order is to the true one, so a near miss still earns most of the credit. There is no timer, and everyone gets the same eight players each day.

How Do You Play Order the Player?

Drag a card to where you think it belongs. The top of the list is always the “most” end, whatever the statistic. When the order looks right, press Submit.

The eight never arrive accidentally correct: the starting order is built so that no player begins in their own place, and so that it always starts below 20% before you have touched anything.

How Is Your Score Calculated?

Take each player, count how many places they sit from where they belong, and add those eight numbers up. The worst possible total with eight players is 32, which happens when the top four and the bottom four trade halves completely, so each place a player is out costs 3.125% and your percentage is 100 minus 3.125 times the total.

The smallest mistake available to you is swapping two neighbors, which costs two places and scores 94%. Moving one player four places out of place scores 75%, because the four they pass each shift along by one. After you submit, the correct order is shown beside yours with every player’s real number. The scoring is the same as Order the Country on the geography side.

Which Stats Come Up?

Nineteen, on a fixed 52-day rotation rather than at random:

They do not come up equally often. Career-high market value has 150 of the 520 puzzles, while seven of them have ten each: career red cards, La Liga titles, Bundesliga titles, Europa League goals, and Serie A, Ligue 1 and Champions League games. Every statistic’s pool runs out at the same time, so the whole pattern repeats once every 520 days.

How Are the Eight Players Chosen?

The eight values in a puzzle are always different, so the order never comes down to a tie. For the goals and games statistics, a player still playing in that competition is left out of it, which keeps the order from moving while the puzzle is live. Market value is always the career high rather than today’s figure.

Tips for a Better Score

Anchor the two ends first: the player you are certain is top and the one you are certain is bottom. Then keep whatever you are least sure about near the middle, because scoring is by distance, and a doubtful player put at the top or bottom can be seven places wrong, against four or five in the middle.

When Does the Daily Puzzle Reset?

A new puzzle arrives at midnight London time, with a fresh leaderboard, and everyone in the world gets the same eight players and the same statistic. There are 520 puzzles drawn from 341 different players, and once the daily one is done you can keep playing practice rounds, which are unlimited and never touch the daily leaderboard. Free, no account, no ads.

League and Champions League goals and games come from StatMuse. World Cup and Europa League goals come from Wikipedia. Titles and market values come from Transfermarkt, the number of clubs comes from Wikidata, and career red cards were compiled by hand.
