Numbers: Three Number Puzzles Against the Clock

Numbers is a free daily number puzzle game on Quizebra. Every day you get three puzzles, the first easy, the second harder and the third hard. Each one hides a rule in a set of numbers, and you pick the missing number or result from four choices. You have sixty seconds for each puzzle, and your score is your total time over all three. Everyone in the world gets the same three puzzles each day.

How Do You Play Numbers?

Work out how the numbers you are given connect, then tap the number that follows the same rule. You get one try. A wrong number loses the puzzle, and so does running out of time; either way the puzzle counts as the full sixty seconds.

You get one ranked set a day. After that you can play practice sets without limit; they do not go on the leaderboard.

What Happens After Each Puzzle?

The right number goes into the gap and the rule is written out under it, whether you got it right, got it wrong or ran out of time, and the next puzzle waits until you tap Next. So a miss still teaches you the rule, and reading it costs you nothing: the clock has already stopped.

What Kinds of Puzzles Are There?

Number series that grow, shrink or alternate, grids where each row follows the same sum or product, magic squares and number pyramids, number wheels and triangles, number machines that turn every input into an output, dominoes, symbol equations and balance scales.

Tips for Faster Solving

In a series, write down the steps between the numbers first; if those do not settle, look at the steps between the steps, or at every second number. In a grid, test one row before you trust a rule. The wrong answers are often what a nearly right rule would give, so check your rule against every number you are shown.

How Many Puzzles Are There?

660, 220 in each of the three difficulty levels. Arithmetic is all you need; the work is finding which rule it is. Each day takes one puzzle from each level, easy first, and no puzzle comes round again until its whole level has been played.

When Do the Puzzles Reset?

New puzzles arrive at midnight London time, with a fresh leaderboard. Free, no account, no ads.

The other brain games are Logic, Spatial and Memory, and the best player across all four each day is the Daily BrainWhiz.
